Control Systems Support Specialist/Information Systems Coordinator/Office Operations Specialist

(Note that I have had all three titles while at City of Lincoln.  The job functions performed were always as outlined below, the position title changed do to reclassifications by Personnel.)

Networking and Hardware/Software

§      Network administration of division wide Novell, Microsoft NT, and Microsoft Peer-to-Peer PC Networks

§      Installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and upgrading of existing network hardware and software.

§      Installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and upgrading of new and existing PC hardware and software including PC’s, laptops, I/O devices, printers, plotters, scanners, modems, digital cameras, and scientific equipment.

§      Server and Database backup and recovery.

Applications Developer and Solutions Provider

§      Database administration, development, and troubleshooting of the various division wide databases (ie. DBA and applications development work), including Rbase, Microsoft Access, Oracle, and proprietary database systems.  Primary responsibility of the Scada Oracle historical database and the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) database.

§      Software/Application Development of new information management systems using various database programming languages, such as Rbase, Visual Basic, SQL, PL/SQL, HTML, DHTML, XML, and ASP programming languages.

§      Manages the data entry of the SCADA database through point generation and PL\SQL scripts.

§      Ensures scheduled generation and data accuracy of reports with many reporting mechanisms such as Crystal Reports, Crystal Info, Rbase, Microsoft Access, Lotus and Excel Spreadsheets, Oracle system reports, Microsoft NT system reports, Monarch, Adobe Acrobat, Powerpoint, Visual Basic, HTML, DHTML, XML, ASP, and scientific dataloggers.

§      Assists with the creation and maintenance of Scada intranet and internet website using Microsoft IIS 4.0, HTML, DHTML, XML, Java Script, Macromedia Flash.  Creates and maintains the internal only Wastewater Intranet Site using a Personal Webserver, HTML, DHTML, XML, ASP, and InterDev 6.0.

Administration and PC Support

§      Provides training and technical assistance for system users.  This includes training in various software packages, database systems, reporting systems, and programming languages.

§      Manages support and maintenance contracts with various vendors.

§      Assists with the development of the annual capital improvement and capital outlay division budget, with primary responsibility for the creation and maintenance of the I.S. portion of the division budget.  Responsible for the maintenance of the I.S. inventory.

Regional Sales Manager, Allied Broker Services Inc.

Allied Broker Services leases hand held multiple listing services computers (the Pocket MLS) to real estate agents all over the nation.  As one of their Regional Sales Managers, I was soley responsible for sales in the San Diego, California area.  I worked strictly on a contract/commission basis while in San Diego.  While working with the ABS corporate offices I was paid separately for my consulting services. 

 

My duties included sales calls, sales presentations, trade show presentations, customer service, technical support, and managing the San Diego office.  As a result, I was in charge of advertising, marketing, billings, collections, inventory, creating and mainting the customer database, creating and mainting the leased equipment database, computer training, and working with local REALTOR Associations and the local multiple listing service companies.  I also  helped design the Pocket MLS database screen and user interface for the San Diego area, did market testing and demographics data collection and analysis for ABS, Inc., helped them with their corporate databases, billing systems, and accounting, and I did a lot of computer training, and  maintenance and repair.

June 1989 – October 1996        Nebraska REALTORS Association               Lincoln, NE

Assistant Executive Officer/Governmental Affairs Director/Finance Coordinator

§      Directly responsible for the following committees:  Board of Directors, Executive, Finance, Governmental Affairs, Legislative Review, Political Affairs, Issues Mobilization, REALTORS Political Action Committee, Risk Reduction (Legal), Real Estate Finance, Past President's Advisory, and Member Services Task Force.

§      Planned and coordinated the Annual Legislative Meetings and Spring State Meetings, and numerous committee meetings.  Assisted in the planning, coordinating, and facilitating of the annual convention and trade show.

§      PC Support and Training. System administrator of the Novell network. Designed and administrated Association's computer bulletin board system.  Designed and administrated the Association's  Fax-On-Demand system.

§      Directly responsible for the creation and reporting of all Association accounting including accounts receivable, accounts payable, taxes, payroll, dues billing, budgets, inventory, and audits.  Negotiated various contracts, maintenance agreements and major equipment purchases.  Responsible for administrating the office insurance policy.  Assistant Treasurer for the Nebraska REALTORS Political Action Committee.  Responsible for all Accountability and Disclosure reporting for the Nebraska REALTORS Association Governmental Affairs Division and the Political Action Committee.

§      Directly responsible for all of the Association's political and legislative activities.  Liaison to the Association Lobbyist with experience in lobbying, bill and voting record tracking, and issue research,.  Responsible for the implementation and administration of all political programs of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS.  Responsible for the creation and implementation of the Political Action Committee fundraising.  Responsible for the planning, coordination and administration of the Nebraska REALTORS Association Political Involvement

§      Responsible for the writing, layout/design, printing, and distribution of Association newsletters.  Created numerous promotional/educational brochures and flyers.  Responsible for  press releases by the Association.  Solicited  advertisers for Association publications.  Performed many membership marketing duties, including membership drives and member appreciation programs.  Association representative and speaker for the NRA Leadership Caravan.

Retail Franchise Manager/Store Manager

Store manager for several different HobbyTown stores in the Lincoln area.  Also employed as a franchise manager.  Responsible for developing store design, ordering inventory and fixtures, on site setup, and on site training of new franchisees.
